Prayer is an outward, careful attentiveness to the One who invites us to an unceasing conversation. Prayer is the presentation of all thoughts--reflective thoughts as well as daydreams and nightmares--to our loving Father who can see them and respond to them with divine compassion. Prayer is the joyful affirmation that God knows our minds and hearts without anything being hidden. the more we dare to show our whole trembling self to God the more we will be able to sense that God's love, which is perfect love, casts out our fears, purifies out thoughts, and heals our hatred. --Henri Nouwen
